Description
This is both a police and public works issue. Parents are ignoring the no parking sign on the north side of new brooklyn west of the sportsman club intersection. In part this may be b cause the sign is not facing them and is not visible- the post needsa sign that faces east. The post is also way too close to the intersection and so cars still park west of it, impeding bike and foot traffic and making this area dangerous for students and drivers alike.

Thank you for taking the time to express your concerns. I’ve initiated a Traffic Emphasis Request based on the information you provided so officers can pay special attention to that area when they are able. In general, officers only have the opportunity to focus on parking issues when there are no urgent calls pending, but they do what they can. Someone from our department will follow up with you in about 30 days to discuss the results of our efforts.
In the meantime, you may also want to contact Chris Hammer, the City’s Engineering Manager. He’s the person to start with if you are interested in pursuing long-term solutions such as revisions to road signage or other efforts. Perhaps there are permanent traffic solutions that are worth further consideration. Chris’s email is chammer@bainbridgewa.gov
