Hi, Deb. The only means BIPD has to address a chronic problem like this is through our Traffic Emphasis Program. Officers will visit the area when they are able, and move people along, but unfortunately it's not a permanent fix because the moment the officer leaves, people continue to disregard the no parking signs. For a long(er) term solution, you may consider reaching out to the City's Public Works and Engineering Division. Perhaps bollards, a guardrail, curbing, or something else might be installed to prevent this problem from recurring. I recommend starting with an email to pwadmin@bainbridgewa.gov. I appreciate the feedback Barbara- but it also seems like if these are legitimate strategies that would help public safety and cut down on the need for police oversight, it would be great if the police department also made these recommendations to public works? Thanks.
